The seasonal store relocated from its longtime home in the New York section of the park to the Hollywood area.

"For this year's Mardi Gras, we thought it'd be a great and different idea to put it on the main street of the park," said Sara Hollars, project manager of visual merchandising at Universal. "We thought it would bring a different feel and different vibe to the entire Mardi Gras event."

The store has rooms that have been decorated to look like a ballroom, a New Orleans back alley and a speakeasy. Each room features props to go with the theme as well as merchandise items.

The first room is the ballroom, where an international jazz celebration is underway. When visitors first enter the store, they'll find themselves in the lobby of the Ambassador Ballroom.

Around the corner, a bandstand has been set up with various instruments, including a drum set, a trombone and a saxophone. Although there's no live band, jazz music can be heard playing throughout the room.

Other details in the ballroom include posters on the walls that reference Mardi Gras celebrations from around the world, including Brazil, Puerto Rico and Trinidad & Tobago.

There's also a variety of merchandise such as beads, masks and hats.

The next room in the Tribute Store takes visitors to a dimly lit New Orleans alleyway.

"Be on the lookout. You may see or hear a cat or a dog or some crickets," Hollars said.

As for the decor, the walls look like brick and stone buildings with signs and posters plastered on them. A fake balcony with different props and beads lines the wall above.

The alleyway continues to the final room, where a speakeasy has been set up in an abandoned hotel. An assortment of props can be found here, including musical instruments, bottles and vintage-style photos.

Visitors can also buy Mardi Gras-inspired treats in the last room — including a Mardi Gras mask brownie, chocolate-dipped bacon and chocolate cookie dough balls.

For those who like to take a closer look at the details, the Tribute Store also features several Easter eggs throughout the rooms, including nods to past tribute stores and a few references to fan-favorite Earl the Squirrel.

The Mardi Gras Tribute Store will open to the public on Friday. Universal employees and annual passholders will be able to preview it Thursday.

Universal's Mardi Gras: International Flavors of Carnaval runs Feb. 4 through April 16. The event, which is included with park admission, features a parade, live concerts, dishes inspired by international flavors and more.
