  • Universal is installing clear vinyl at "key locations" inside haunted houses

  • The dividers will allow scareactors to safely interact with visitors, Universal said

  • Visitors are encouraged to wear face masks indoors as part of Universal's resort-wide policy

Universal will install clear vinyl dividers in the haunted houses at this year’s event.

The dividers, which will be in “key locations,” will allow scareactors in the houses to safely interact with visitors, Universal said.

Scareactors and team members will also be required to wear face masks while indoors during the event.

As part of Universal’s current face mask policy, visitors are only encouraged to wear masks while indoors but not required to do so.

Halloween Horror Nights was canceled last year in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, Universal did open a few houses during the day. Those houses had plexiglass installed in certain areas.

Celebrating its 30th year this year, Halloween Horror Nights will feature 10 haunted houses, five scare zones and live shows. The lineup includes “The Haunting of Hill House,” “Beetlejuice,” and Universal Monsters: The Bride of Frankenstein Lives. The event will also mark the return of Halloween Horror Nights Icon, Jack the Clown.

Halloween Horror Nights kicks off Sept. 3 and runs select nights Oct. 31.
