Galactic Starcruiser, a two-day, two-night adventure, will let guests live out their own “Star Wars” story “aboard” the Halcyon.

In a nearly 20-minute video shared to the official Disney Parks YouTube channel, a group of Disney Imagineers working on Galactic Starcruiser discussed the project, which has been in the works for about six years.

When guests first arrive on the Halcyon, they’ll be briefed on what they’ll see and do before they start their adventure. That adventure can include character meet-and-greets, lightsaber training, bridge training, and other activities on the ship.

Guests can just be casual tourists on their adventure or dive deeper into the different storylines.

“This has to be fun for people who love Star Wars and for the people who love the people who love Star Wars and making sure the invitation feels friendly,” said Ann Morrow Johnson, executive producer and creative director with Walt Disney Imagineering, in the video. “You don’t have to know everything about the canon in order for it to work and be fun. And if you want to take a step back and watch it happen, it should be a really great piece of immersive theater to watch as well.”

The experience will also include unique food and beverage offerings that tie in with the Star Wars storytelling on the ship.

“So even what you eat enforces that feeling that you’re going to be in a galaxy far, far away,” Morrow Johnson said.

The Galactic Starcruiser experience also includes an excursion to the planet of Batuu, the setting of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

“I think we’ve been working for so long to make sure that the things that have been unfolding on board the ship are meaningful experiences that can play out as a story on the planet,” Morrow Johnson said.

The interconnected storytelling will play out not just in the land but also on the attractions such as Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.

“There’s an amazing sort of depth that already exists in Galaxy’s Edge and we’re taping into that,” said Anisha Deshmane, associate producer for Walt Disney Imagineering, in the video. “We’re able to show people things about Galaxy’s Edge, about Batuu, about Black Spire Outpost that they wouldn’t see as a day guest, as a day visitor.”

An official opening date has not yet been released for Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser. Disney plans to release more details about the vacation experience.
