For the celebration each theme park’s icon will get a new festive look, including Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom, Tower of Terror at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Tree of Life at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Spaceship Earth at Epcot.

Following Friday’s announcement, Disney Imagineer Zach Riddley has shared more details about what changes are in store for Spaceship Earth.

The structure will get new permanent lighting system that will debut during the 50th but be used long after that. The custom lighting feature will “shine across Spaceship Earth’s silver panels and connect with one another, resembling shimmering stars in a nighttime sky,” Riddley wrote in an Instagram post.

While Spaceship Earth’s classic multi-color lighting design will be preserved, the structure will be accentuated with “new colors and intensity.” The lighting will extend into the new main entrance fountain area and the World Celebration area, according to Riddley.

More details will be shared about the “technical innovation and artistry” behind the new “experience,” Riddley wrote.

Epcot’s multi-year transformation also includes a new look and location for the park’s Leave a Legacy display, new attractions like Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in the France pavilion as well as new entertainment offerings like the upcoming nighttime spectacular “Harmonious.”
