On Monday, Disney Parks Chairman Josh D’Amaro gave a presentation as part of the IAAPA Expo Virtual Education Conference, providing updates about upcoming Disney World attractions.

IAAPA is the global trade association for the attractions industry. The association typically hold its annual IAAPA Expo in Orlando in the fall, allowing attendees to see the latest in attractions technology and innovation. But the coronavirus pandemic forced the in-person expo to be canceled, and in its place, a virtual conference is being held.

During D'Amaro's presentation, test footage of the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind ride vehicle was shown, along with a first look at the indoor track.

The footage shows “omnicoaster” vehicles in action, rotating as they make their way along a track.

The Guardians of Galaxy coaster will feature what Disney is calling a “groundbreaking ride system.”

“At Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, also part of the transformation of Epcot, we’re creating a family-friendly storytelling coaster that will feature a groundbreaking ride system with vehicles that rotate 360 degrees and can even do a reverse launch,” D’Amaro said.

The Guardians of the Galaxy coaster will be an indoor attraction, with Disney previously saying it will be one of the longest enclosed roller coasters in the world.

An opening date for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind has not yet been announced.
