CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. -- The annual holiday celebration Holidays in Space is returning to Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex.

  • Holiday decor, kids activities and new light show

The celebration begins December 14 and is open daily through December 30, with the exception of Christmas Day.

This year, the event will feature a reimagined kinetic light show with "jaw-dropping surprises, a rainbow of colors and special effects."

The show will take place each night on the Atlantis North Lawn starting at 5 p.m.

"Our Holidays in Space celebration gets better and better each year and 2018 is no exception," KSC chief operating officer Therrin Protze said in a statement. "It's an exciting time for space exploration with the recent 60th anniversary of NASA and the upcoming 50th anniversary of the Moon landing and our holiday season here is designed to share our pride and excitement." 

The event will also include a holiday-themed activity area for kids in the Atlantis West Pavilion. The activities will be offered December 26-30. 

Visitors will also notice holiday decorations throughout the complex. 

Holidays in Space is included with daily admission to Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex.
