Jon Alba has been at Spectrum News 13 since 2018, where he’s constantly inspired by people in the community who have a story and give him the opportunity to tell it.
He’s a sports reporter and anchor who loves capturing the stories that call for human compassion. Jon aspires to tell the stories that people can empathize with and ones that bring out the very best in them.
Jon is a multi-award-winning journalist who has won several honors from the Society of Professional Journalists. He reported up north in Maine, where he won a Maine Association of Broadcasters award for best sportscast in 2018. Jon is also an Emmy Award-winning producer from his time working at the MLB Network.
Jon has covered numerous stories, but two stick out the most to him. He had the chance to report on an Oviedo High School student with special needs who one day aspires to be the school's head basketball coach. He also covered a college hockey scandal in which a coach was mentally and verbally abusing players. It was a hard-hitting story that allowed Jon to give the victims a voice.
Outside of work, Jon is a rock 'n' roll buff. He used to play in a band that toured around the country and internationally. He’s also heavily involved in pro wrestling and the combat sports industry, not only covering it but also serving as talent. He loves living in Orlando where there are great people, sports, food, and weather. His favorite restaurant is Bento, and he likes spending time at Lake Eola.
