Krystel Knowles is Spectrum News 13's weekend Brevard County reporter.

Before joining the Central Florida news station, she worked at Suncoast News Network in Sarasota as a morning anchor and dayside reporter.

Krystel has 10 years of experience in news. She started her career in print journalism as a correspondent for the St. Petersburg Times newspaper. She also was a staff writer for Focus Magazine and head reporter for a south Tampa community news publication.

In 2011, she made the switch from print to broadcast journalism. Throughout Krystel's career, she's managed to stay in the Sunshine State, working in Tampa, Sarasota and Orlando.

While at Suncoast News Network, Krystel won the station's first two Green Eyeshade awards (the nation’s oldest regional journalism award) for breaking news and public service television.

Krystel is a Tampa native but moved to California before spending her high school years in Lima, Peru. While living in South America, she became fluent in English, Spanish and French.

Before becoming a journalist, Krystel was a professional ballerina and meso-soprano singer in Peru. In 2015, she became a competitive figure skater representing Ice Sports Forum. Her other hobbies include: skateboarding, snowboarding, surfing and traveling.
