PALM BAY, Fla. — Students of a Brevard County A+ teacher say she deserves the spotlight. There is pure excitement over science experiments in Jeny Colbert's class.

A co-worker nominated Colbert for her dedication to teaching third graders science and math at Port Malabar Elementary School.

One of her students, Daniel Rivera described one of Colbert's experiments, "We used light  a flashlight with aluminum foil and a white paper."

Colbert enjoys teaching third grade. She says it is a grade level she adores.

"I call it the sweet spot. They still love me. They still want to learn. They still want to work hard," she says.

She was nominated for her ability to relate to her students and for always reflecting a positive image.

Colbert adds, "I try to connect with them. I try to connect with the kids on their level."

Colbert was surprised to learn that it was a co-worker who nominated her as an A+Teacher.

"It makes me feel wonderful that she recognizes me and the hard work that we all do here. All of us deserve the recognition," she admitted.

Her students say the recognition is well deserved.
