Eight homes were raided and dozens were arrested Thursday morning in what authorities called the largest drug bust in St. Cloud's history.

In all, 29 people were arrested in the drug bust, dubbed "Operation Rollin' on the River." But police added they were still searching for 24 more suspects as of Thursday afternoon.

The operation was six months in the making. St. Cloud police and officers from surrounding areas, including Kissimmee police, the Osceola County Sheriff's Office and federal agents, busted down the doors of alleged drug dealers at 6 a.m.

Investigators said the wanted suspects were involved in the sale and delivery of cocaine, heroin and marijuana. Among those captured Thursday, police said, were the four ringleaders of the cocaine operation, two of whom were in a relationship.

Officers also arrested several people who were not on their original list of suspects, because they found them in possession of drugs.

Neighbors said they were shocked by the massive law enforcement presence near their homes early Thursday morning, but added they hoped it straightened out their neighborhood.

"I hope that their lives get better, because I would like them to know that choices have consequences," said Jacqueline Odom, who lives near one of the raided homes. "Legal is legal, and illegal is illegal."

Officers said they confiscated the following items as part of the operation:

  • 423.6 grams of cocaine
  • 63.8 grams of heroin
  • 7 grams of methamphetamine
  • 5,157.8 grams of cannabis
  • 453 illegal pills
  • $15,676.02 in cash
  • 2 guns, a shotgun and a pistol
  • 3 vehicles

One of the suspects, identified as Alexander Green Jr., was also charged with operating a dogfighting ring. Police said 11 dogs and eight puppies, along with performance-enhancing drugs used on the dogs, were found at the home where Green was captured.

Police said felony warrants have been issued for the 24 suspects still at large. If you have any information on their whereabouts, call St. Cloud police at (407) 891-6700, or Crimeline at (800) 423-TIPS (8477).

Calls made to Crimeline remain anonymous, and tips that lead to the felony arrest of suspects and/or the recovery of stolen property and drugs are eligible for cash rewards of up to $1,000.
