ORLANDO, Fla. -- We started the weekend with some sunshine and strong storms across parts of the area.

  • Any developing storms could contain locally heavy rain
  • Have a Plan B for Father's Day outdoor activities
  • Highs stay seasonable next week

The showers will continue to quickly fade away overnight, with warm lows in the low 70s.

Father’s Day will also feature some active weather. We will again see plenty of sunshine in the morning hours, with showers and storms developing in the afternoon and early evening. Highs for Dad’s Day will be in the low 90s.

Drier air is still on track to impact the area starting Monday. This will greatly reduce the coverage of showers and storms across the area. Highs for Monday will be back in the low 90s.

The drier air will remain in place for Tuesday and Wednesday, with again just widely scattered storms expected. Highs both days will be in the low 90s.

Deeper tropical moisture will make a return for Thursday and Friday, with a better shot for showers and storms both days in the afternoon. Highs Thursday and Friday will be in the low 90s.

Next weekend looks warm, with showers and storms once again likely in the PM hours.

Boaters will find good conditions for Father’s Day, with seas 1-2 feet and a light northerly wind in the morning.

Surfers will again have poor conditions, with a small east-southeasterly trade swell. The rip current threat will be moderate for Sunday, with Atlantic water temps holding in the low 80s.

Tropical Update

We continue to watch a system churning near the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. The system remains very disorganized and has a low chance of development. It will however produce heavy rains across the east coast of Mexico and south Texas.

Hurricane season ends Nov. 30, 2018.
