COCOA, Fla. — A death investigation is underway in Brevard County after a train struck and killed a 32-year-old woman early Monday, according to Cocoa Police.

  • Detectives are contacting the victim's family
  • Railway worker reported crash at 9:35 a.m.
  • Crash happened south of Dixon Boulevard

“It is believed she was killed on impact,” Cocoa Police spokeswoman Yvonne Martinez said in a statement. “Detectives are in the process of notifying the woman’s next of kin. The investigation is active and no other information is available.”

An employee at the Florida East Coast Railway called a dispatcher at 9:35 a.m. and said a southbound train had struck a pedestrian, Martinez said.

“The incident occurred on the tracks about 150 yards south of the Dixon Boulevard crossing,” she said.
