A resident is concerned about Radebaugh Way, a small road that acts as a major cut through between Vineland Road and Millenia Boulevard.

  • Radebaugh Way at a standstill at certain times
  • Impatient drivers are hazardous on roadway, says resident

"This intersection with Vineland Rd and Millenia is nearly impassible at several time during the day. Is there any plan to add a right turn only lane to Radebaugh Way onto Millenia Blvd? Traffic is now stalled if a single car wants to go across Millenia to the office building." Writes Bernie Haas.

Haas has lived off of Vineland Road for the last 14 years.

He says that Radebaugh Way, which was once a calm and peaceful cut through between Vineland Road and Millenia Boulevard, is anything but at times.

"It's so crowded and it moves so slowly, the way the lights are sequenced, it's almost impossible to get through there during rush hour," said Haas.

When Spectrum News 13 visited the area, we saw several behaviors that Haas mentioned drivers deal with on a daily basis including impatient drivers not wanting to wait in a long right turn and cutting in front at the intersection at the last minute.

In fact, Haas says he prefers taking Grand National Drive as a cut through road, which is several miles out of the way.

"Compared to this, it's almost gotten to be faster even though it's a couple of miles out. It's just less stress," described a clearly frustrated Haas.

Radebaugh Way is a unique road in that it is not state operated but it runs directly underneath a section of Interstate 4 that is currently under construction as part of the I-4 Ultimate Project.

FDOT officials showed Spectrum News 13 some of its plans and stated while it is building new I-4 bridges over Radebaugh Way, it does not have any changes to lane configuration planned on Radebaugh as part of the project.

The bridges being built over the road will be widened, creating space for potential future widening.

To fill that space for now, new sidewalks will be built on either side of I-4.

That means drivers will most likely have to wait until the project is completed for future change.
