ORLANDO, FL -- Parents supporting their kids in sports is nothing new.

Parents supporting their kids in sports together is common.

Parents supporting their kids in sports by throwing a full-blown party at a NCAA Softball Regional is unique and next level. That's how the families of UCF softball players do it.

“Everyone’s having a good time," said Tom Schappacher, family of senior outfielder Denali Schappacher. "Everyone’s having a blast together. We all gel. We all mix together and I know that’s a direct reflection of what the team is.”

The Knights historic season has been easy to celebrate. It's also given their parents to come up with the newly-famed Left Field Lounge.

Every game, every series, the left field section is packed with tents, grills, coolers stacked to the top and family members cheering loud and proud.

“Loving on everybody and we love each other too," said Nia Franklin, mother of sophomore Kennedy Searcy. "That’s really the funny part because we support our children but we end up becoming friends. We’re our own little family out here.”

Founded organically to create a support system for the team, the Lounge became a place where parents could bond just like their daughters.

“As freshmen come in you see the parents standing off in the corner and we’re like no," said Shelly Schappacher. "We’re all here for the same reason. Support UCF and support your kids together. The cheers are louder and the atmosphere is very welcoming.”

They've welcomed a season filled of milestones with open arms. The fun is infectious. What' most important, these are proud parents who love and support their daughters endlessly.

“There’s no limitations to what you girls can do and they believe it. We’re just pushing each other so that atmosphere has made me overwhelmingly proud.”

UCF advanced to their first super regional in program history. They will face #1 Oklahoma this weekend in Norman.
