ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla.— The lights are shinning over the diamond as Lyman and Lake Brantley go head to head.

Fans that have become family all gathered together for something much more than just another game.

Today everyone is on the same team, Team Anna.

“She is the most loving person you will ever meet,” said Reagan Sienkiewicz, Lake Brantley shortstop and Anna’s sister.

“Anna’s got a personality,” said James Bayly, Lake Brantley Head Softball coach.

“She loves softball. She practices every day at the tee in the front driveway. She watches it all day long,” said Angie Sienkiewicz, Anna’s mom.

“I love the game that’s it,” said Anna Sienkiewicz, Lake Brantley Softball Team Manager.

It’s clear Anna loves the game so it was time for the game to show her some love back.

There was not a dry eye in the stands as Anna hit a home run for not only Lake Brantley but for everyone with Down syndrome.

“It tugs at your heart strings. They are people. They are us. They put their pants on the same way we do and sometimes they get looked at kind of funny but they are not. They are normal, sweet, gentle people,” said Coach Bayly.

“Well it’s special because how much I love her and how much she means to me but it’s awesome that everyone else can see how amazing of a person she is and how independent she is and outgoing,” said Reagan.

An amazing person who has had a fighting spirit since the start.

“When she was three weeks old she had two open heart surgeries and the second one her kidneys just weren’t working so they told us she had to say good bye to her and so we ended up saying goodbye and about twenty minutes later you hear all of this yelling and screaming and cheering and we open the door and look and they are running at us saying she made it she made it! We are 20 years later and she will be 21 in June,” said Angie.

Something just as strong as Anna’s will to live is her bond with her younger sister Reagan.

“She’s like my little sidekick. She goes everywhere I go and she’s like my best friend. I think having her as my sister is like one of the most amazing things to ever happen to me and I wouldn’t want it any other way,” said Reagan.

A feeling felt by more than just Reagan.

“She made me stronger than I could ever be,” said Angie.

“Those other things in life you don’t worry about it but every time I see her it’s hey beautiful and she comes up and we get a big hug. It hits home. It’s something i’ll always cherish and remember,” said Coach Bayly.

So with every swing of the bat or ground ball fielded, Anna is teaching us that in the game of life we are all on the same team.

“Be nice to everyone because you never know what’s going on in someone’s life and to treat everyone kind,” said Reagan.

“Enjoy the life you have with your child. Don’t set expectations. Enjoy every day for moments like this,” said Rick Sienkiewicz, Anna’s dad.
