The Orlando Pride (0-1-1) lost to the Washington Spirit 2-0 Saturday afternoon at Maryland SoccerPlex in Boyds, Maryland.
Pride forward Alex Morgan was ruled out of the match after sustaining a concussion in Orlando's opening game draw last Saturday vs. Utah at Orlando City Stadium.
Also missing from the Orlando lineup were Brazilian starters Marta, Monica and Poliana as well as Australians Alanna Kennedy and Emily van Egmond. All 5 players are currently preparing for Women’s World Cup qualifiers with their respective national teams.
U.S. Women’s National Team forward Mallory Pugh scored the first goal in the 80th minute and Ashley Hatch made it 2-0 in the 88th minute for Washington (1-1-0).
Orlando will travel to play Portland Thorns FC at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 15.
