TAMPA -- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have placed linebackers Kwon Alexander and Jack Cichy on injured reserve.

Alexander suffered a torn ACL in his left knee in the second quarter of Sunday's 23-20 win over the Cleveland Browns. His teammates learned about the severity of his injury during halftime.

"Kwon came out of the training room right about the time that we were getting ready to go back on the field and so it was emotional," said Bucs head coach Dirk Koetter on Monday. "You could tell that the guys really care. Kwon talked to the team there for a couple of minutes right as we were going back on the field.

"We would always like guys to communicate more but Kwon's a talker out there. I mean he's the guy that's trying to amp everybody up," added Koetter.

Alexander started all six games for Tampa Bay this season. He had 45 tackles (six for losses), two passes defensed, two forced fumbles and a sack.

Alexander was named a team captain and Koetter described him as the "heart and soul of our defense."

Cichy also suffered an ACL tear. He played in all six games for the Buccaneers and had one tackle on defense and three tackles on special teams.

The Bucs have signed linebacker Riley Bullough, who was moved to the active roster for the final three games of last season.
