Two of the top receiving threats from UCF's undefeated, Peach Bowl Champion team were chosen on Friday night in the third round of the NFL Draft.

With the 91st overall pick, the New Orleans Saints selected WR Tre'Quan Smith.  He joins an explosive offense led by future Hall of Fame QB Drew Brees, which includes 2017 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Alvin Kamara.  Smith impressed NFL scouts at the combine when he recorded a vertical jump of 37.5 inches (7th-best amongst WRs) and ran a 4.49-second 40-yd dash.

The former American Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year (2015) has been praised for his strong ball skills and acceleration in and out of cuts.

Just seven picks later, the Houston Texans picked TE Jordan Akins.  He was a preseason Mackey Award Watch List honoree and finished his UCF career with 8 TD receptions and over 1,100 receiving yards.

The two offensive playmakers join CB Mike Hughes as 2018 NFL draftees.  Hughes was selected with the 30th overall pick by the Vikings.  He became just the fourth Knight to be drafted in the first round, joining Daunte Culpepper, Blake Bortles and Breshad Perriman.

Linebacker Shaquem Griffin, who has garnered national attention from playing without a left hand, has yet to be selected in the draft, but is expected to be chosen early on Saturday.
