District foes locked horns as the Manatee Hurricanes swept the Braden River Pirates 3-0 at Manatee High School on Tuesday night.

The Hurricanes battled to the straight-set victory despite the absence of star outside hitter JoJo Coulter, who missed the game due to an ankle injury.

Twin sister Gabby Coulter and Spectrum Sports Player of the Game Aja Jones led Manatee to victory. Gabby Coulter and Jones will need to continue their production as JoJo Coulter, the 2016 Bradenton Herald All-Area Player of the Year, is expected to miss up to six weeks.

Braden River led or tied the Hurricanes in each set despite the loss. Freshman Jordan Radick was aggressive and kept the Pirates competitive with the help of senior Sydney Jaco.

Up next for Braden River (2-3), the Pirates host district rival Venice Sept. 5.

The Manatee Hurricanes (2-0) head to Lithia Sept. 1 to face Newsome.
