MERRITT ISLAND, Fla. — Students at Merritt Island's Divine Mercy Catholic Academy had an out-of-this-world learning experience Friday.

The academy called it “Space Day,” and parents who work at the Kennedy Space Center helped students launch tiny rockets.

“I really believe the takeaway for our students, there is a place for my gifts and talents in the space program, no matter what that is,” Elizabeth Moore, a Divine Mercy Catholic Academy Science teacher.

Former NASA astronaut Andy Allen also thrilled the students with his adventures on the space shuttle.
