WINTER PARK, Fla. – This Saturday is a concert fusing Mozart and a member of the Beatles. The Bach Fest is now in its 86th year, surviving the pandemic with some reimagination.

1.       Dr. John Sinclair is the musical director and conductor for Bach Festival Society of Winter Park. He let us in on Monday's rehearsal. “In essence, I'm really just the head waiter,” he humbly tells us. “I make sure it fits on the plate nice and it looks beautiful and I deliver it to the audience.”

2.       The Bach Fest is now 86 years strong. “We can't put a choir singing by each other right now. It's just not healthy.” So, Dr. Sinclair found a solution by utilizing his orchestra (members of whom are either wearing masks or are separated by clear dividers). “Who are some of my favorite composers? Mozart, Mendelssohn and I needed a little bit of 21st century charm. Paul McCartney.”

3.       MMM is taking place this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Rollins College's Knowles Chapel. If it sells out, you can view it about a week after Saturday's debut via “Bach at Home.”

4.       Other performances include the Big Bach Band this Saturday, Feb. 27 at 3:00 p.m. at Winter Park Central Park. This one is free.

5.       Sunday is the Bach Festival Brass concert at 3 p.m., also at Winter Park Central Park. “Music is the ultimate team sport,” he adds. “How about getting 40 musicians to hit a 16th note at 120 beats a minute together. That's coordination.”
