On this date in the 1700s, John Montagu, the fourth Earl of Sandwich, was born.

As the story goes, the earl liked to have some meat between two slices of bread while playing cards. Friends would say they wanted what Sandwich was having.

Of course, the concept of the sandwich goes much further back, and has been known by all kinds of names. But the sandwich stuck.

And since Friday, Nov. 3 is National Sandwich Day, here's a list of all the places you can go to get a deal on a sandwich.
