The medical testing site even considers entry-level candidates.

Exact Sciences, located in Madison, is the maker of the FDA-approved Cologuard colorectal cancer test kit. It has rigorous training programs and an entire lab devoted to training new employees.

“We really teach them the way that they need to do everything,” said Clinical Lab manager Chelsea Updike. “This allows an individual to take the time they need to feel comfortable with the procedures before they actually work with real patient specimens.”

But Exact Sciences isn’t just focused on clinical operations; they also feature exciting positions on the commercial side of the business. Alexis Thompson, senior screening solutions manager, highlighted the role her team played in bringing cancer diagnostic and screening products to the health care community.

“Our commercial colleagues got to take these products, these cancer diagnostic products, these cancer screening products, and we got to bring them to the health care community. We got to interface with doctors, health systems,” Thompson said.

Tim McClure, Thomson’s co-worker, said he appreciated the resources the company provides to help educate the medical community.

“To have the resources to share with the providers and know that then the patients are seeing them too. That education piece really allows more patients to get screened, which is what we do this for,” McClure said.

Exact Sciences leadership said it prides itself on fostering a supportive and purpose-driven work environment.

“We are employees, but we are also owners in the company,” Thompson said. “So everybody had a vested stake in doing great work. We were purpose-minded, individual goals. We wanted to fight cancer. And so if you liked that idea of being on a team, a team that was committed to doing great work and changing the world, then this was the place to be,” she added.

Aside from the meaningful work, Exact Sciences offers its employees a range of benefits, including onsite personal trainers and a fully stocked cafeteria full of locally produced ingredients.
