BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — A single neighborhood blocks from Dixon Boulevard was rocked by two rounds of violence.

On Thursday night, a cab driver was shot and killed. On Tuesday, it was a food delivery driver held at gunpoint and robbed.

Both events happened in the area of Kensington Drive and Donna Avenue.

Friday night, Devin Harris, a DoorDash delivery man is busy. Every Friday he says he’s busy with deliveries.

He’s been driving and delivering food for two years now. Fortunately for him, he has had no issues in his two years doing it. What has happened in Cocoa this week shocks him.

“I would never in my life expect something like that to happen,” Harris says looking up his next address to drive to. “I always have good experiences with people.”

Amanda Dunn lives on the same street where these two events occurred. Thursday, she admits she heard and saw too much.

“Me and my daughter were on the front porch, I seen a taxi go by,” Amanda Dunn says in her front yard looking down the road. “Five minutes later, I heard a pop. I was like, 'Someone just got shot.'”

After police arrived to the scene, Amanda says she saw her friend and neighbor trying to help.

“It was horrible,” Dunn states. “You could see where the van had crashed into the woman’s fence over there, and he was laid out on the ground.”

On Tuesday in the same area, a food delivery person was robbed at gunpoint. That driver is okay, but two similar incidents in the same week has delivery drivers like Devin on edge.

“I’m going to have my guard up because that is kind of frustrating,” the delivery driver admits. “I would never expect someone to do that to someone delivering your food.”

On Friday, it wasn’t Christmas lights going up around this neighborhood. It was signs looking for tips and offering a reward.

“He said last night we are moving,” Dunn says with her family by her side. “We don’t want be here around this.”

Cocoa Police are now telling delivery and transportation drivers to maintain a heightened awareness and report any suspicious activity.
