ORLANDO, Fla. – Walt Disney World, in celebration of its 50th anniversary, plans to artwork and other “magical” touches to Orlando International Airport.

“With so much excitement ahead, we want you to feel immersed in the magic as soon as you arrive in Central Florida, which is why a talented group of cast members is hard at work transforming the arrival experience at Orlando International Airport (MCO) with the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA),” wrote Thomas Smith, Disney Parks editorial content director, in a blog post.

Art featuring Disney characters will be installed in the terminal train stations in the airport. Concept art released Thursday shows golden images of Figment and Minnie Mouse with other characters incorporated into the pixie dust around them. Arriving passengers will also pass through a “glistening glow” projection of light patterns.

There will also be a photo op with a recreation of a Disney ride vehicle.

In 2019, ahead of the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney created large displays and artwork for the airport.

Disney World’s 50th anniversary celebration will officially begin Oct. 1 and last 18 months.
