KISSIMMEE, Fla. — The Quilts of Valor, a foundation that supports veterans and military members, has honored a 95-year-old veteran for his service.

Robert Kemp Sr. appeared to become emotional as he received a Quilt of Valor honor at the Museum of Military History in Kissimmee.

"You may have quilts given to your mother when you were born. You have blankets that stay with you forever. ... So they provide an immediate sense of comfort," said Melissa Mathews with Central Florida Quilts of Valor.

Kemp, who joined the U.S. Navy in 1942, also received a special cake.
