PORT CANAVERAL, Fla. — The Norwegian Epic cruise ship returned to Port Canaveral Saturday afternoon after hitting a pier in Puerto Rico.

  • Cruise ship that smashed into pier in Puerto Rico back in Florida
  • Norwegian Epic was on 7-day trip
  • Port Caneveral

The ship disembarked from Port Canaveral on February 9 to begin a seven-day East Caribbean cruise when mechanical issues forced them to reroute to Puerto Rico.

That's where strong winds caused the ship to veer into a pier - damaging the ship and pier moorings.

No one was hurt on board.

"I don't know what they were doing," said cruise passenger James Kennard. "They were trying to say it was the wind. It wasn't that windy. At that point we were already flustered cause we didn't know what was going on for days."

"Where we were going, what we were doing. It was like that the entire trip. We just found out we were getting back here yesterday."

According to a statement from the Norwegian Cruise Line -- all guests who were on board the ship are to receive a 100 percent future cruise credit.
