In January, the space company completed a static fire test of its Falcon 9 rocket with the Crew Dragon capsule on top of it.
The launch will be uncrewed and designed to show the Crew Dragon's ability to eventually send astronauts to space from U.S.
With Wednesday's announcement, NASA also said that Boeing's uncrewed Orbital Flight test will now be targeted for no earlier than April.
"NASA has been working together with SpaceX and Boeing to make sure we are ready to conduct these test flights and get ready to learn critical information that will further help us fly our crews safely," said Kathy Lueders, commercial crew program manager, in a statment. "We always learn from tests."
SpaceX and Boeing are set to launched manned mission from the Space Coast this summer.
