WINTER HAVEN, Fla. — Legoland Florida has announced the name of its newest themed hotel, which is sure to have you saying, "ahoy mateys."

  • Pirate Island Hotel scheduled to open in spring 2020
  • 150 rooms, pool deck, Lego models, character experiences
  • 5-story hotel will also have pirate-themed restaurant, lobby bar for grown-ups
  • Legoland confirms new hotel at IAAPA Expo

The Pirate Island Hotel will be a five-story hotel connected to the original Legoland Hotel, park officials announced this week. It will feature 150 rooms, a pool and pool deck, character experiences, a pirate-themed restaurant, and more.

“We’re really excited to offer a brand new family-friendly experience and continue our park's expansion with a third on-site hotel accommodation,” said Legoland Florida Resort General Manager Rex Jackson. “Legoland Florida Resort is committed to putting a smile on every child who walks through the door and Pirate Island Hotel will certainly help us achieve that goal."

Additionally, each room will feature a separate side room for children, equipped with TVs, daily in-room Lego treasure chests, Lego pirate decor and more.

The idea for the pirate theme, according to park officials, came in part from fans themselves.

“Due to the success of our existing accommodations, we realized a third hotel was needed to keep up with our high consumer demand. Veteran guests and excited newcomers alike shared their opinions and Lego Pirate was the overwhelming favorite,” said Resort Hotels Director Kevin Carr.

The hotel's opening will come on the heels of a number of other additions to Legoland Florida opening to the public. The Lego Movie World is set to open this spring, and a separate miniature golf course for hotel guests will open in the summer.
