OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — A woman was killed when an ATV overturned onto her in Osceola County on Saturday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
- 9-year-old boy was driving ATV when he swerved to avoid another ATV
- His ATV went up a brim, causing it to flip onto its side
- Adult female passenger was killed; another male passenger injured
The crash happened on a private trail in an area off Holopaw Groves Road near 8 Mile Ranch Road.
The Florida Highway Patrol says the 9-year-old driver of the vehicle said he moved over to let an ATV in the opposite direction pass.
But the ATV traveled up a brim and overturned onto its side. When that happened, the passenger, Laura Bizzell, 58, fell out of the ATV, and the ATV fell on top of her. Bizzell was killed.
The driver and another adult passenger on the ATV had minor injuries. All three people were from Avon Park, Florida.
No one had restraints or helmets, according to FHP.
