  • 4 dead in Titusville crash
  • Crash happened on Sisson Rd & Columbia Blvd
  • All 4 in pickup were tourists

The crash happened on Sisson Road and Columbia Boulevard around 6:30 p.m. Authorities say four adults, who were tourists from the United Kingdom, were traveling westbound on S.R. 405 in a four-door Mitsubishi rental vehicle

Deputy Chief Tood Hutchinson with Titusville Police said that for an unknown reason, the driver of the Mitsubishi decided to make a U-turn at an intersection at Sisson Road but ended up in the path of a large pickup truck.

"Our investigators have a lot of facts to uncover. It appears to be an extremely tragic accident, in which this vehicle pulled into the oncoming path of a large pickup truck," Hutchinson said.

Officials said they had to use the 'Jaws of Life' to remove two of the victims. The driver of the pickup was taken to a nearby hospital with no serious injuries.

Hutchinson added that the initial investigation shows the driver of the pickup truck did nothing wrong.

"All of our first responders when they arrive at these scenes is to sustain life, and this was a really tough scene for them because they weren’t able to save four people,” he said.
