It's been a week since a devastating fire destroyed a beloved music teacher's Satellite Beach home.

But the support the lady known as 'Miss G' has received locally and around the world has been overwhelming.

"I feel blessed, I really do," Georgia Germond told Spectrum News 13. "I'm still here and should be back to teaching in two weeks!"

Teaching music, that is.

Miss G has taught thousands of children piano over the past 50 years as part of her "Little House of Music.” But her studio was destroyed in the fire, along with all her music, her piano, her albums and a Grammy nomination for a children's song.

"I had it," she said. "And once you know you have it, it's in your heart."

In the last week, Miss G has received hundreds of calls and texts from fellow music teachers from around the world — places like India, Iran and South Africa.

Some even offered Miss G a new piano, Michael Jackson and Beatles records she lost, and more.

"They just came out of the woodwork — I don't know where they all came from," Miss G said. "I'm flabbergasted."

In the meantime, the couple will rent out a local condo to host students, then find a permanent home to make sure the gift of music continues.

"We have to help each other," she said.

Miss G said she wants to stress the importance of having working smoke detectors in your home. She credits them for saving her and her husband's life.

Fire investigators are still looking into the cause of the fire that began on the back porch.
