A Sanford-bound Amtrak Auto Train derailed in Virginia late Wednesday night, the Associated Press reported — the second Auto Train incident this week.

Auto Train 53, which departs Lorton, Va. for Sanford, according to a timetable posted on the Amtrak website, derailed in Halifax County. Four cars carrying vehicles derailed but remaining upright.

No one was hurt, and the 394 passengers and crew continued on to Sanford, said AP, attributing a statement from Amtrak. No vehicles on the train were damaged.

Amtrak said the derailment is under investigation and that its automobile carrying trains were canceled.

Earlier this week, a man standing on train tracks was struck and killed by an Amtrak Auto Train that had just departed Sanford en route to Lorton.
