A brush fire has shut down Interstate 95 between New Smyrna Beach and Port Orange, according to the Florida Forest Service.

Firefighters are at the scene of the fire, which has been burning between State Road 44 and Dunlawton Avenue since 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Florida Highway Patrol says I-95 from Pioneer Trail and Dunlawton Avenue will remain shut down through the overnight hours due to lack of visibility and the active fire.

The fire was initially 10 to 15 acres, but has since grown to 204 acres, the Forest Service said Wednesday evening.

Multiple units are working to contain the brush fire. As of 9:25 p.m., FFS has contained 90 percent of the fire.

Forestry officials said crews were conducting burnout operations to eliminate fuel to the "Pioneer Trail fire."

No structures are threatened by the fire and no evacuations have been ordered, according to officials. I-95 was closed just before 1 p.m.
