In this taxing time of year, the United Way of Brevard is offering free tax prep for people in low-income situations.
Families, individuals and seniors who earn less than $54,000 a year are eligible for the assistance until April 17.
Last tax season, 62 volunteers prepared more than 2,700 returns at no cost.
The free service has a community-wide savings of nearly $3 million.
United Way chapters across Central Florida offer free tax service as well:
- Heart of Florida United Way -- Orange, Osceola and Seminole
- United Way Volusia-Flagler Counties
- United Way of Lake & Sumter Counties
- United Way of Marion County
Requirements to get service may differ depending on chapter.
