Two people have died and two were taken to a hospital after a vehicle went through a red light and crashed into another in Orlando Wednesday morning, according to authorities.

  • Accident close to Camping World Stadium
  • Crash killed both people inside Pontaic
  • Accident also knocked down pole into corner barbershop

At around 2:17 a.m., a black Honda was traveling westbound on West Church Street, when it appeared to run a red light at the intersection of South Orange Blossom Trail, according to Lt. Robert Bear of the Orlando Police Department.

As the Honda was going through the red light, it struck a red Pontiac that was going southbound on South Orange Blossom Trail, Bear described.

The crash killed both people inside the Pontiac. Orlando Police are still working to identify next of kin in order to release names of the victims.

The accident also sent a light pole sailing through a corner barbershop, which was thankfully not open at the time.

“We’re glad it wasn’t any of our clients here. Normally we have young kids, running around and playing. It could’ve been a tragedy like that also," said Wendell Barnett, a barber at Stadium Stylz.

The driver and passenger in the black vehicle were taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening condition. The accident scene is close to Camping World Stadium.

Both West Church Street and South Orange Blossom Trail were closed for several hours, but were reopened around 6:45 a.m.

According to police, the investigation is still active and charges have yet to be filed against the driver of the Honda.
