The 43-year-old Orlando man struck and critically injured by a CSX train in Orange County has died Tuesday.

The crash happened Monday just before 11 a.m. near 4th Street and South Orange Avenue, near Taft.

Damon Rios attempted to cross the train tracks, when the right side of the train struck him, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Rios was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center in critical condition. He died Tuesday afternoon at the hopsital.

Emergency crews were still on scene at about noon. The southbound train didn't stop didn't stop right away, the driver not initially realizing the train hit a person.

The crash remains under investigation.
