ORLANDO, Fla. — An argument that erupted during a card game night at an Orlando-area home turned into a deadly shooting, Orange County deputies say.

  • Deputies: Man shot, killed during argument while playing card games
  • Montoile Dersier taken to ORMC, where he was pronounced dead
  • Jean Peniel Providence charged with 2nd-degree murder

Montoile Dersier and Jean Peniel Providence were playing separate card games in the backyard of a home on the 1400 block of 35th Street at about 6 p.m. Sunday when a "heated argument" broke out. That's when Providence pulled out a gun and shot Dersier in the torso, Sheriff's investigators said.

There were multiple witnesses, and Providence was taken into custody at the scene.

Dersier was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he died.

Providence faces second-degree murder charges.

The investigation is ongoing.
