ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — The driver of a Toyota Rav, who was involved in a crash with a motorcycle, was hit and killed when he got out of his vehicle to render aid to the motorcyclist, according to troopers. 

The crash occurred just before 4 p.m. Saturday on Winter Garden Vineland Road in Orange County. 

Troopers said a Lexus was unable to avoid hitting the driver, 59-year-old Juan Caraballo, who was out on the road trying to help the motorcyclist. Caraballo was pronounced dead on scene. 

Troopers said the motorcyclist from the first crash, which occurred at Winter Garden Vineland Rd. and Namaste Loop, is in serious condition at Orlando Regional Medical Center. 

The crash remains under investigation.
