CENTRAL FLORIDA — A cool blast and colder air will affect Central Florida enough where some places will have warming shelters.

This first cold snap of the season is predicted to last until Friday. Even though Tuesday's highs are in the 60's, with the wind it will feel about 5 to 10 degrees colder.

Cold shelters will start opening up as soon as the weather hits below 40 degrees, which could be Tuesday night.

This cooler air is the indirect impact of cold weather from the upper Midwest and Northeast.

In fact, Monday caused quite a headache for post-Thanksgiving travelers as 1,600 flights were cancelled across the country, with more than 1,300 grounded.

According to Flight Aware's Misery Map, as of 5:30 a.m., Tuesday, there is only one cancellation with 56 delays; none of them at Orlando international airport.

Call the shelters before leaving to get the latest information and to confirm times when they open.
