CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Novant Health Thanksgiving Day Parade attracted thousands to Uptown.

  • More than 100 organizations participated
  • There were 17 floats, 13 marching bands and 8 balloon displays
  • The route was one mile long

More than 100 organizations made up the 17 floats, 13 marching bands and 8 balloon displays. Organizers expected more than 100,000 people to fill the roughly one-mile parade route.

"This is just a time where everyone can come to Uptown and we’re just celebrating community and family,” Charlotte resident David Kopssek said. “Even though we're not all family, we're all Charlotte."

More than 500 community volunteers helped out as balloon handlers, costumed characters, marshals and support staff.
