ORLANDO, Fla. — Orlando-area community leaders recognized three local Hispanic-owned businesses on Wednesday for their economic impact and growth.

  • Event honors Hispanic small business owners
  • One awardee talked about experience arriving from Puerto Rico

It all happened during Prospera's annual 'Success Story Luncheon' at the Rosen Plaza Hotel, where leaders gathered to celebrate small business owners -- many of them who've moved to the U.S. to build a new life.

In his speech, award winner Josue Maysonet, President of Kerinver Chiropractic Health, talked about the struggles he went through after arriving from Puerto Rico.

"Well, there are so many challenges. I wasn't born and raised here, and getting to know people, getting to build relationships, it was really hard in the beginning. But then with hard work and getting connected with people like Prospera, it just made my life so much easier," Maysonet said.

Prospera recognized two other business in Central Florida -- Jiracor and Hispanic Family Counseling.
