ORLANDO, Fla. — In this week’s Traffic Inbox, viewer Heather McCarty asks:

"With I-4 construction and incoming growth coming on Wymore Road, what will be done about the intersection of Kennedy Boulevard at Wymore Road? Increased traffic has caused crazy delays all the way back to Lee Road!"

Interstate 4 is not the only road affected by new traffic patterns and added congestion. Wymore Road is another stretch of pavement that sees its fair share of issues.

Many people use it as an I-4 alternate -- to either navigate around a congestion pocket or to completely avoid taking the interstate.  Like many other roads across Central Florida during peak times, Wymore continues to become more congested as well.

As it turns out, there are a lot of plans in the near future for the area.

We found out that Orange County has plans to widen Kennedy Boulevard from two lanes to four lanes from All American Boulevard all the way up to Wymore Road.  The county is still acquiring right of way.  However, in order to do so, as part of the I-4 Ultimate Project, FDOT has plans to rebuild the I-4 bridges over Kennedy Boulevard to be wider and more vertical.  This will allow for future expansion.

In addition, we've also been told improvements will be made to Maitland Boulevard and Lee Road in the coming weeks that may help alleviate some of the extra congestion.

So stay tuned.
