PREBLE, N.Y. -- A Preble man's Nazi flag has caused controversy over the past few weeks. And things got heated during a town meeting Monday night.

Neighbors say seeing the flag each day is just unacceptable.

Jody Fish, the man who put it up, defended his reasoning at the Preble Town Board meeting, and ended up being escorted out of the building.

Fish says he put up the flag in hopes of ending a dispute with his neighbor over hacking of Wi-Fi. He insists he does not agree with the meaning of the Nazi flag and is just using it to grab the attention of his local officials and neighbors.

During Monday night's meeting, several residents spoke out against the flag. They say it's giving the town a bad name.

While they spoke, Fish defended himself.

"I've been hacked, my shoulder's been ripped out, my vehicle's been compromised. I've lost everything, my credit score went from 800 and lost everything in one year,” Fish said.

"But that doesn't mean you should offend your neighbors. Keep your voice down, calm down,” said Joe Heath, a Preble resident.

"So I put up a flag because everybody wants to know why,” Fish continued.

"We are not in support of this offensive flag. This is in disrespect for tens of millions of people that Nazism killed. It's in disrespect for my uncles, my father, who fought against the Nazis in World War II, and I think it's important to say that,” said Heath.

Fish says he won't take the flag down until his issue is resolved.

The town supervisor says he's doesn't support Fish's decision to fly the flag, but he can't do anything about it because it's on private property. The town is expected to issue a letter with their position on the matter, but there's no resolution at this point.
