BREVARD COUNTY, Fla.  -- The Red Planet is coming to all Brevard County Schools six grade classrooms thanks to an out-of-this-world effort.

  • Foundation donates 60 maps
  • Students can explore surface of Planet mars
  • Foundation to also donate books

On Thursday,  the Buzz Aldrin ShareSpace Foundation announced its donation of 60, 25-by-25 foot Mars maps, with features that cover the whole planet.

The maps are color coded to show elevation of Mars' huge mountains, plus labels direct viewers to landing sites of rovers and landers.

It will allow students to explore the surface of the Red Planet from their classroom!

The foundation, led by Aldrin's son Andy, is also giving out 600 "Welcome to Mars" books for children.
