CENTRAL FLORIDA -- A little bit of sunshine to start out our Thursday was quickly taken over by showers and storms as the west coast sea breeze set up and moved inland.

  • Highs for Friday at 92 degrees
  • Slightly lower rain chances
  • Humidity will stick around

Some of the storms had heavy rain and frequent lightning, but activity was not severe.

High temperatures were held down by the clouds and rain, but still reached around 90 degrees with the humidity making it feel even hotter.

Rain chances back off a little as we approach the weekend, but the humidity stick around.

While the majority of the rain ended early, an isolated shower cannot be ruled out through the overnight hours. Most will be dry with partly cloudy skies and temperatures in the mid-70s as we head toward daybreak.

Friday will be similar to the last few days, but with a slightly lower chance for rain. Showers and storms will start around lunchtime and continue through the afternoon.

Before the rain rolls in, temperatures will reach the low 90s for most with the heat index close to 100 degrees.

Even drier air moves in Saturday, lowering rain chances to 40 percent. This will be short-lived as another approaching system increases rain to 60 percent early next week.

If heading to the beach Friday, breezy winds will create a bit of a chop on the water as a moderate rip current risk continues.

Tropical Update

In the tropics, the Atlantic basin is quiet. No new development is expected at least for the next five days.
