FLORIDA -- Snakes are a common find in Florida -- but you don't need to recoil in fear every time you see one.

Of the state's 44 snake species, only six are venomous, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. So most are harmless or even beneficial, and even the venomous ones will often scurry away if encountered.

So what do you do if you come across a venomous snake?
