HOLLY HILL, Fla. -- Police have released the name of a man wearing a clown mask who they say attacked and then was shot by a Little Caesars worker.

  • Store employee shoots, kills attacker
  • Shooting occurred at Little Caesars
  • Police said suspect attacked employee

Jesse L. Coggins, 53, of Greenville, North Carolina was the man shot by the store employee just after midnight Sunday at the store at 158 Ridgewood Ave. in Holly Hill, police said Tuesday.

He died at Halifax Health Medical Center.

According to Holly Hill Police investigators, employee Heriberto Feliciano was locking up the restaurant when he was attacked by Coggins, who was wearing a clown mask. Coggins hit Feliciano multiple times in the face with a wooden post, then pulled out a pair of scissors, they said.

That's when Feliciano pulled out his concealed gun to fire multiple shots at Coggins. He then called 911.

Police said Coggins doesn't have a local arrest history, and it's unclear how long he'd been in the area.

The investigation is ongoing.
