ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- We started with sunshine but ultimately had lots of showers and storms pass through the Bay area again.

  • Similar rain pattern Tuesday
  • Rain chances drop midweek
  • Warmer afternoons

The showers will wind down with partly variably cloudy skies overnight into early Tuesday morning. Lows will be in the low 70s.

The pattern looks similar for Tuesday, with some sunshine for the morning and most of the storms primarily in the afternoon to evening. The coverage will be at about 60 percent for Tuesday when all is done by for the day.

Highs will be in the mid-80s Tuesday around midday and then the temperatures will drop by late afternoon with the cooling thunderstorms. The storms will slowly die down Tuesday evening with lows in the low 70s.

Wednesday will feature partly sunny skies with a 50 percent coverage of afternoon scattered storms. Highs will be in the mid-80s.

Thursday will be partly sunny with a 50 percent coverage of scattered storms. Highs will be in the mid to upper 80s.

Friday will be partly sunny with a 60 percent coverage of scattered storms. Highs will be in the mid-80s.

The Memorial Day weekend is looking wet with a similar pattern to what we saw this past weekend.

A big plume of moisture will stream up from the south, resulting in lots of clouds with numerous showers and storms for Saturday. It’s too early to know if it will be a washout or if there will be a primary time frame for the rain.

That’s because there will likely be a tropical low passing by and although it doesn’t look like it will be a wind threat to our area, it does look like it could push moisture into the entire southeast.

If we’re on the east side we would get lots of heavy rain. If the low moves more east then we could end up with one really wet day and then a slightly drier day.

We’ll keep an eye on that for you and fine tune the forecast the next few days.
