LOS ANGELES — Actor and comedian Will Ferrell was hospitalized Thursday night after being involved in a serious two-car crash in Southern California.

The crash happened on California's Interstate 5 and caused the SUV that Ferrell was riding in to flip over, TMZ reported. Ferrell was on his way back from a comedy benefit put on by Billy Eichner in San Diego.

Ferrell was one of three passengers in the SUV, according to the celebrity news site.

The California Highway Patrol did not immediately respond to requests Friday for more information, and the cause of the accident is not clear.

Video from the scene by LA-OC.tv shows a black SUV with its windows shattered and Ferrell conscious and talking on a phone as paramedics wheeled him into an ambulance on a stretcher.

A representative for Ferrell told TMZ on Friday morning that actor is well and didn’t sustain any serious injuries.
